In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.

The Waiting Game

As with all medical tests, we now play the waiting game. You would think that if one is able to pee on a wand to find out if one is pregnant in three minutes or less, it shouldn't take 3-4 days to get test results on blood work, or any other test, like x-rays and CT's and such. Okay, maybe it should. I'm just nervous, I guess.

We should receive Rigby's results on Thursday. Should. I won't hold my breath.

So far she has passed all other tests: vitals are great, her EKG (yes, an EKG) was healthy, as well as the fecal flotation (don't ask). Her profile, labeled a Geriatric profile, was overall healthy. So, now we wait for the blood work.

What I have learned is that seizures are common in dogs as they age, and are one of the most frequently seen neurological problems in dogs. That doesn't make Rigby's seizure any easier to take. I've also learned that if your dog is having a seizure, all you can do is ensure they don't hit their head or fall onto anything, wait for the seizing to end, then talk them out of the confusion. I'm pretty sure I flunked all three of those on Sunday, as I mostly remembered shouting at Brad to do something, running about hysterically looking for the phone, and blubbering. Not real helpful.

But, now I know. She has been fine since then. Eating, drinking, chasing her rings and tennis balls, batting at Tripper, following us from room to room, laying her big head in our laps demanding some attention (as if she hasn't been getting any extra attention lately).

I could learn some patience from her as we wait for Thursday. Too bad instead of tennis balls to chase I have this 20-page paper to finish and a reading in KC on Friday.
