Shocking Results
Monday, March 9, 2009 I know that some of you are awaiting my response to Friday night's MVC game, but I promised my husband I'd attempt to let it go after he thought he was going to have to call 911 I was so upset.
The clock fiasco at the end of the game, the one that cheated the Shox from their come-from-behind-last-second-winning-three triumph was not the only clock issue of the game. There were a handful of clock mishaps. I wanted the camera to pan the table and show who or what was running the clock, for it had to be some sort of experiment or some budget-cutting decision by the MVC to use a trained animal or someone right out of the concessions line to run the clock.
That's all I'm going to say about the clock management Friday night.
As for my Shox, I am proud of them. The naysayers might comment that the Shox should've never been 20 points behind, but the fact is they were and they came back, came back strong. Durley came out on the court and put the team on his back with a determined and relentless effort to win. Suddenly, his teammates followed suit. This team proved to themselves and to us that they can win, they can fight back, they will not give up. And Toure Murry? 0-3 from the three-point line during the game, but who else do you want with the ball in his hands with just seconds left in the game?
Proud. That game was inspiring and heartbreaking. Along with the rest of Shocker nation, I'm still reeling. All I can say is the MVC better get it right next year, because the Shockers will be contenders not only in the regular season, but in their valley tournament and we will not stand another clock "mishap."
