In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.

Hello World

"It's like a different way of living now. And thank you world! We always knew that we'd be free somehow...Just look around. You owe to yourself to check it out. Can you feel a brand new day?"

These are some of the lyrics from a song "Brand New Day," from the movie soundtrack from The Wiz. Some of you may not remember the musical with Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Nipsey Russell, Lena Horne...

There were two songs in the soundtrack that always stood out for me, that I still remember these 30+ years later. Brand New Day and Home. But, with lyrics such as, "Everybody look around, 'cause there's a reason to rejoice you see..Everybody wake up into the morning into happiness..In harmony we'll show the world that we got liberty..freedom you see has got our hearts singing so joyfully..." Is it any wonder that this is the song spinning in my head upon this day?

I know the road will be rough, I know it will be long, but for the first time I have hope. And I believe that if we join together, just as our new President requests, that we can overcome the obstacles before us. But, only if we fight together. I hate to bring in the sports analogy, but we cannot now sit on the bench and watch our new President play this game alone. As a team we fought for this Presidency, and only as a team will we change this nation. Now is not the time for a time out.

And so, as I have watched the festivities throughout the day, I am hopeful, proud, anxious, and a little scared. We should be. This is the game of our lives. This is our big dance.

With that said, a little opening music video to bring out the home team.
