Big Game Sunday
Friday, November 7, 2008 My beloved Bears are 5-3 and at the top of the NFC North Division, just one game ahead of the tied Packers and Vikings at 4-4. But, Sunday looms ahead, dark and frightening. The Titans are coming to Soldier Field. I am more than nervous about this game, I am downright scared out of my wits.
It doesn't help that Orton is nursing a sprained ankle from last Sunday's too close for comfort win over the Lions. It really doesn't help that we may have to rely on Rex "Jekyll and Hyde" Grossman to lead the offense. And what really and truly doesn't help are the inconsistencies of our defence. I know, "inconsistent" and "Bears defense" usually do not belong in the same sentence, but there it is. How else do you give up 23 points in a quarter against the Lions...THE LIONS!
So, I nervously await for Sunday and the tolling of the bell at noon. I will deck myself in blue and orange and light my Bears candle (only utilized in games of greatest need), say a silent prayer (or fifty), open a beer and hope that the Bears are primed and ready for the game of the season. If not, it will be a long and gloomy Sunday afternoon.
As I close, I want to reiterate that I did not vote for Obama because he is a Chicago Bears Fan...but, it didn't hurt.
Bear Down!

I feel your pain. I realize that I will have to start cheering for someone in the league because there is no hope for the Seahawks. Every lost is more and more painful to watch.
So I will be cheering on your beloved Bears with a nice cold beer!
