In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.

My Friend WU Turns 60!

WuShock turned 60 yesterday. 60! Where has time gone? I have been attending WSU basketball games and other athletic events with my Dad since I was a wee-girl and WU has become a familiar friend. Despite what others may think, I love that crazed shock of wheat. And what better way to celebrate a WU Birthday than with 10,000+ mutual friends, complete with birthday cake, Wu-birthday hats, and  Mr. Elsea and Mr. Johnson (the creater of and the first wearer of WU).

The video footage was great, showing Wu's beginnings and changes. Some funny, some scary (very scary Wu of the early 90's). The WU I grew up with was the Wu with the straw skirt and large nose. Then there was even a Wee-Shock (so glad that didn't last). Dad and I had our picture taken with the previous WU (before this new, cupcake headed WU), the Wu that was forevering having to hold onto his head. The picture was taken in D.C. at the Sweet Sixteen where, unfortunately, our Shockers glory was shortlived, ended at the hands of George Mason. But, the pictures great!

If only the Shockers been better at the line (11 of 24 freethrows! pathetic) and learned how not to clog the lane, the night would've been better. But, I still enjoyed the cake and hat. So, Happy Birthday Old Friend! I heart WU.

Kansas.com has provided a photo gallery of events and a few pictures of previous Wu's. I also have a few more pics in my picture gallery.

My cousins, JJ (hugging Wu) and Matt, celebrating with WU!
