In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.

Mortimer Adler

Halloween, Strange Things Seen...

...ghosts may walk, skeletons talk on Halloween.

This being one of my favorite holidays, it is appropriate that I remember the words to a song I sang in the 4th grade in honor of this dark holiday. But, I confess I love Halloween. Brad and I love to create our costumes each year, from "Fire and Ice," to the Yellow Submarine and a Mermaid. One year, I was Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, and Brad was the Beer Dude.

Brad especially loves to carve pumpkins. I, on the other hand, have no creativity when it comes to scooping out the brain-seeds and taking knife in hand. Last year, Brad create a Boo-Shock o'lantern for me and it was such a hit that he made one for President and Mrs. Beggs. They were thrilled and displayed it on the front table in the entryway. He also made one for the WSU Foundation.

But, the craziest likeness that sat upon our porch was Charles Manson. Yes, Charlie. The most memorable moment of having Mr. Manson on our porch was when a young boy yelled to his mother, "Look, Mom. It's Jesus."

This year, we have an ogre greeting the little ones, complete with a giant hedge apple for a brain and eye. I'll have to wait until after tonight to load those pictures, so check back over the weekend for costume and ogre-o'lantern photos in the pic gallery.

So, Happy Halloween everyone! Be safe and be scary!
